I found a site with some VERY early pictures of Disney character costumes that I thought I'd share.
Above you see the very first Mickey & Minnie Mouse costumes used by Disney.
Truly hideous looking, I'm amazed the kids are not crying and screaming as they approach.
The obvious vision/breathing holes in the masks give them a sort of zombie appearance.
The blank staring eyes don't help.
Incidentally, the man about to sacrifice his kids to these two terrors is (I believe) comedian Jerry Colonna.
You may not know the name, but you'd be sure to recognize the voice. A well known radio/movie talent he also voiced the March Hare in Disney's Alice In Wonderland and over at Warner's, Mel Blanc often imitated him and his catphrases such as "Ah Yes, messy things aren't they!"
